Dr. Philip Sussex
Dental Public Health Specialist
Coronectomy in the Era of CBCT:
Phil Sussex is a dental public health specialist who works both as a hospital dentist and as Clinical Director of the Community Oral Health Service in Nelson Marlborough. In 2011 Phil relocated his family to Cambodia, teaching undergraduate dental students at the International University and working with his students in prisons and poor communities for 6 years. Much of his hospital work these days involves IV sedation and minor oral surgery, oral medicine, and special needs dentistry. In his specialist community job, Phil is passionate about reconsidering all aspects of how we approach child oral health in light of ever-changing research.
There have been some profound paradigm shifts over the years in dentistry and tonight we want to explore two of them and how they inter-relate. Phil had a long-standing interest in third molar nerve injuries and what can be done to prevent them – Panoramic Imaging and Cone Beam CT has the potential to protect our patients, but only if what we see, changes what we do…
