Rosemary Kennedy - ACC Implants

For the past 19 years Rosemary has been Dental Advisor at ACC Corporate Office in Wellington. This role involves advising across ACC functions on dental matters such as policy, procurement, customer services, research and case managers. Key to this is working relationships with NZDA, DCNZ and Otago University School of Dentistry. Guidelines have been developed for dental implants, crowns and TMD conservative and surgical management to enable consistent entitlements and management of expectations.

Mahanga Maru (Ngāti Porou)- Cultural Competency in Dentistry

Mahanga is an experienced trainer and facilitator of cultural competency in Aotearoa. With a unique approach drawing on lessons learned from more than a decade of project and iwi consultation experience in the natural resources sector, Mahanga has worked with 23 organisations since 2002 to improve their cultural competency. Mahanga is currently working as a cultural advisor alongside the NZ Dental Council, assisting in the update of the professional competencies that were actioned in December 2021. Mahanga is a wealth of knowledge in this space, and will briefly discuss how practitioners can ensure they are reaching competency and upholding te tiriti o Waitangi.
